Hi, it’s Mark! If you’re here, you probably know me, and you probably also know that writing has been my thing for a very long time. And yet, my career has followed a very different path from what I planned…<\/p>

I never wrote that best-selling fantasy novel in my teens (or 20s, or 30s…). I never went into journalism (despite that Newhouse degree–go ‘Cuse!). But I never stopped writing, be it cheeky haiku about corporate life, lyrics about rockin’ the ‘burbs, ridiculous analogies in too-long work emails…<\/p>

So don’t call it a comeback; I never left! \u00a0I’m well along in the process of writing a book for middle graders: a thrilling mystery in the same vein as The Three Investigators or The Hardy Boys. It’s set in a fictionalized version of Rockport, Massachusetts, a beautiful and mysterious seaside town to which I’ve developed some pretty close ties over the last few decades. The characters are entirely fictional, as they say…but some of them might make you wonder…<\/p>
